Copy your Battlefield 2 install to another location. Install the update. This will update your version of Battlefield 2 where it was originally installed.To go back to BF2 v1.41:. Rename your new (1.50) install folder to something else i.e. Battlefield 2 1.50. Rename the copied install (1.41) to what it originally was i.e. Battlefield 2.

Click STARTRUN. Type: regedit.

Go to (in Vista its different): HKEYLOCALMACHINESOFTWAREElectronic ArtsEA GAMESBattlefield 2. There you will see a key called Version. It should say 1.50. Change this to 1.40 and close regedit. Run Battlefield 2 as normal.
